Rery & ReryLikes [illustrator & art blogger] - on Tumblr since Feb 2010
“Illustrator, blogger, e-gallery creator, Tumblr keep my eyes open and feed my emotions that allow me to create.”
• Why have you chosen Tumblr?
Frankly I didn’t know much about social networking when I started blogging 2 years ago. The first thing that attracted me to Tumblr is the possibility to have a blog with the layout that I like and that expresses my personality. Tumblr offers hundreds of templates, I soon found the one that I like and customized it easily with basic knowledge of html.
• What do you share on your Tumblr and why?
I have two blogs. The first is Rery where I share my illustrations, it’s sort of an illustration diary. And I share on Rerylikes things I like, mainly artworks, sometimes music and readings. Initially my intention was to share my inner world with my twin sister who lives in Taiwan. But I discovered very soon that Tumblr is an amazing source of inspiration, thanks to its very active art community.
• Have you made beautiful encounters on Tumblr? What Tumblr have brought you?
I’ve always been reticent about virtual encounters. But thanks to Tumblr, encounters become artistic, and I have had some collaborations with other artists and have met some really great art lovers.
I discovered with Tumblr two trends: more and more emerging artists active on the net, and many art lovers who make their artistic discoveries via blogs. Thanks to my experience on Tumblr, we had with Armelle and Nathie the idea to create the community e-gallery ARTchipel.com.

“iPhone mobile photographer, Tumblr allows me to share instantly my work, interact and discover new artists in the world, in the simplest way.”
• Why have you chosen Tumblr?
I find the way to post very simple and immediate, and the themes are various and likely customizable to get a nice display.
• Have you had beautiful encounters on Tumblr?
I’m always discovering stunning projects and artists on Tumblr, and sometimes I happen to meet photographers “in real world”. Nevertheless, shy by nature, I rather keep sober and respectful relationships with people on internet. One of the most beautiful encounter on Tumblr happened probably with Rery!

“Tumblr gathers at once art lovers, “researchers of images” and artists, and the roles change endlessly.”
• Why have you chosen Tumblr?
I wanted an online portfolio but found a website a bit rigid. I chose Tumblr because it was simple and quick. With one-click, I publish and share on social networks my works with a larger audience.
• What do you share on your Tumblr?
I basically put my drawings and my work in progress. I am often asked about technical questions. Posting pictures with unfinished work allows viewers to know better how I proceed, and it is really interesting. Sometimes I also share other artists’ works that I find inspiring or that reflect my mood.
• Have you made beautiful encounters on Tumblr? What Tumblr have brought you?
I met many artists, especially those who are passionate to create with ballpoint pen like me. Also, Tumblr is a very powerful sharing platform to create snowball effect very quickly. After being featured on ARTchipel Tumblr, I got more than 8000 new followers, have received many lovely messages from art lovers and have been featured on other well-known blogs such as Artistaday. I’ve also been contacted by 5 galleries for exhibitions and will have my first exhibition in New York!

“Tumblr allows me to have a look at the worldwide art practices, and in return, to present my work to a diverse audience.”
• Why have you chosen Tumblr?
I wanted to have an online portfolio, and a friend suggested me to use Tumblr as simple way to show my work. It was actually very easy to use. At first I was not looking necessarily to be part of the Tumblr community. Then, I quickly had feedback on my work, and bloggers began to reblog my collages. I then start to enjoy it and try to post regularly new collages. The feedback from Tumblr community encourages me to continue and to keep a creative dynamic.
• What do you share on your Tumblr?
I have two Tumblr: I use caro-ma to show all my collages since a year. I have a second Tumblr somemotion that I use less regularly where I post images that I find on Tumblr that I like and that inspire me.
• Have you made beautiful encounters on Tumblr? What Tumblr have brought you?
Tumblr allows me to discover the exciting work from other artists. It also allowed me to have very positive feedback from around the world, both from young users, artists on Tumblr, art lovers, and various audience. I also made contact with other collagists I later found on Facebook. I am also contacted by several artistic webzines that publish my work. Finally, my publication on ARTchipel Tumblr helped me to boost in a day from 300 to around 1300 followers, which increases substantially the visibility of my work and continues to bring me new positive feedback every day.

“Social networks: a new approach of the artistic creation. To discover the art of now, without borders, we chose Tumblr.”
• Why has ARTchipel chosen Tumblr?
Tumblr is a sharing platform very pleasant to use, we can give a personal touch to our blog quite easily. Also, Tumblr combines the functionalities of a social network and the open-mindedness of a blogging platform. We can stay connected with our followers coming from around the world who can follow our posts, “like” them, share them and respond. At the same time, readers non-members of Tumblr can also visit our blog. Finally, Tumblr is for us a very important online art source: there are many awesome art blogs that keep us well informed about what is happening in the contemporary art world and innumerable emerging artists who share their work on the platform.
• What do you share on your Tumblr?
When we decided to create our Tumblr a year ago, we aim to share with our future followers each day an artist we like. Soon, our commitment on the artists promotion has been noticed by many Tumblr art bloggers who sent us very encouraging messages. We wanted to expand our communication with bloggers and have created “Tumblr Monday”: each Monday, we invite an art blogger that we appreciate to share with us one of his/her favorite contemporary artists.
• So ARTchipel integrates itself directly with Tumblr art community by inviting curators to introduce artists to feature. Do you also interact directly with artists?
Few months after we started our Tumblr, we’ve been selected on Tumblr Spotlight | Art category. Since, we are regularly contacted by artists for advice and have found many talented artists. We also began doing online interviews with artists on Tumblr and artists on ARTchipel.com and have published more than 50 interviews. Recently, we created a 2nd Tumblr ARTchipel&You and wish to offer regularly calls for submissions.
• What are the objectives of these sharings?
The artists presented on our blog are mainly emerging artists, because we wish our blog to be an exhibition space that allows these artists to increase their visibility. It is also a way for us to discover new talent to exhibit on our e-gallery ARTchipel.com.
• Have you made beautiful encounters?
We made some very beautiful encounters with “bloggers who have participated our Tumblr Monday” and with artists that we have interviewed. We also begin to exhibit on our e-gallery ARTchipel.com artists that we have presented on our Tumblr.
