Tumblr Monday 101

Elizaveta Porodina (Russia/Germany)

Moscow born, Munich based fashion and fine art photographer Elizaveta Porodina has the talent that could not leave us indifferent. Colorful and modern, her work is a manifestation of her cultural roots. Elizaveta Porodina’s most “russian” traits are her tendency to melancholy and sadness, but above all, her obsession with shiny and glittery things (cf. interview with artist by This Is So Contemporary). Great thanks to showslow for this Tumblr Monday to introduce us this talented photographer!

Leonid Tishkov (Russia) - Private Moon (2000-2005)

collaboration with photographer Boris Bendikov

“Private Moon” is a visual poem telling the story of a man who met the Moon and stayed with her for the rest of his life. Crossing the borderline between the two worlds across a narrow bridge, immersed in a dream and taking care of this heavenly creature, the man became a mythological being living in a real world as in a fairytale. Each photograph is a poetic tale, a little poem in its own right. Therefore each picture is accompanied by my own verse, which I wrote when I drew my sketches for the photographs. So it turns out that the Moon overcomes our loneliness in the universe uniting many of us around it. - Leonid Tishkov

Vladimir Nemukhin (b.1925, Russia)

Soiree evening. Oil on canvas, 100x100 cm (1974)
Composition with a fish. Watercolor, 42,5x50,5 cm (1974)

Vladimir Nikolaevich Nemukhin is one of the founders of the Lianozov group and carries on the tradition of the Russian avant-garde. He calls the basis of his abstract compositions “Russian cubo-futurism”. His compositions include collages, and he frequently painted using mixed media, a painting-graphic technique as it were, as well as on paper. The assimilation of the picture with the subject brought his work close to the decade of the 1980’s with its pop-art. (cf. The Tsukanov art collection) Great thanks to artandopinion for this Monday to introduce us Vladimir Nemukhin!
