Luca Mantovanelli is an Italy born London based architect-illustrator. With a need to escape from architecture and to talk about something more personal from time to time, Luca puts his talent in illustration and has developed a sublime and astonishing serie, the “Extinction”, combining beautiful birds and charming young men.
His inspirations? “I started drawing because it was an easier way for me to talk about myself. So what inspires me is what happens around me, my feelings and my fears. I’m really curious about human beings in general, and the way we are all different and we react in different ways. To be honest I would like to have more time to study and to read, as I feel like I would need to spread my theorical knowledge about art, as I studied architecture and not fine art. But I’ve always been interested in art since I was young, so obviously I’ve been inspired also by other artists like Signorelli, Boldini, the artists from the Vienna Secession, Edwin Austin Abbey, Sargent and most recent ones like Renè Grau, Paul P., Hedi Slimane and in particular Harry Bush and his amazing porn illustrations.”
