• 3 words that would best define your artwork: Nostalgic but contemporary
• 3 words to talk about you: Thoughtful, passionate, progressive
• What do you wish to express through your artwork? Wonder, nostalgia, adventure
• Your inspiration of the moment? To my surprise in the past year I have been increasingly inspired by natural landscapes. I say it’s surprising because I’ve always been very urban oriented. I grew up in and around NY and previously focused my work more on the built environment than the natural.
• The artiste or the artwork that inspire you at the moment: John Baldessari, and I’ve always been inspired by the work of Donald Judd.
• A music that you like while working: It depends on what I’m working on. If I’m working on something tedious that just has to get done I like something upbeat, like electronic music maybe. If I’m working on editing a new photograph and have a lot of time to spend with it I like something more calm and reflective.
• An art obsession? I think if you’re an artist, you are required to be obsessive.
• The tools to create an artwork: My cameras, music, my computer, and no distractions.

A landscape. Just for you.

Not the FLW kind, but the WTC kind. The two waterfalls at the WTC Memorial are each the largest man-made waterfalls in North America, at almost an acre a piece.
James Chororos | jameschororos - No. 011 | The Holland | NJ/NY
This was taken in the Holland Tunnel driving back to Brooklyn from Hoboken tonight with my 16-35mm. My fiancee is a great designated driver and she wisely stopped me from sticking my arm out the window with my 5D in hand to try and take these shots. I was upset about the potential for glare but was able to keep my camera pretty steady [and safe] pressed between the dashboard and the windshield, so it definitely worked out for the best. Oh, and the beer garden in Hoboken is incredible. Goodnight.

Thoughtful, passionate, and progressive, James Chororos is a 28 year old architect, designer and freelance photographer. After studying in fine art, architecture, and engineering, he now works full time at Studio Daniel Libeskind in NY. James’ work is nostalgic but contemporary, he is always attempting to uncover the unique characteristics of an everyday moment or fragment in time: “I hope that my images express the personal sentiment that I discover in the places and experiences that I photograph.”
James is greatly inspired by music, memories, drawings, and design in all of its forms. He hopes one day to start a NY based design and photography studio. You can visit his website or Tumblr for more work. (Interview with artist by ARTchipel May-2012)
