Victo Ngai | on Tumblr (Hong Kong/USA)
Victo Ngai is a New York-based award-winning illustrator from Hong Kong, graduated from Rhode Island School of Design. Ngai creates action-packed artworks with an expressive approach. Her compositions are spiraling and moving, engrossing the viewer into worlds where mysterious floods, ghostly hauntings and supernatural beasts are all fair game. Ngai uses a subtle, dusty color palette and loose line work, filling the backgrounds of her pieces with patterns reminiscent of Buddhist painting and Asian textiles. Her works are busy but never overwhelming, with every detail arranged in an order that can’t help but make sense visually (source: Hi-Fructose Magazine)
This is our 111st co-editorship with curators on Tumblr, our sincere thanks for their participation! We are delighted to have ryandonato this Monday to introduce us Ngai, please visit artist’s website or follow her Tumblr.

Shannon Stamey aka October illustrations | on Tumblr (USA)
Born in a rural town outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, Shannon Stamey, the owner of October illustrations, was awed by his surroundings, explaining the heavy prevalence of celestial and natural bodies in his work. A morbid romantic, his pieces delight in a whimsical way, yet teeter into sardonity. Comforting in their often-nightmarish view, the works speak to children of all ages. Receiving no formal training, he has taught himself through the careful study of artists Thomas Wilmer Dewing, Maxfield Parrish, Arthur Rackham, Stephen Gammell, and the more contemporary visionary of Maurice Sendak, Tim Burton and Gris Grimly. A large portion of his work focuses on the charm of turn-of-the-pencils and oil on paper, an appreciation for a more antiquated time is seen not only in his subject, but also in the finish given to the work… done with decking and often times staining. Please visit  Shannon’s website or follow his Tumblr for more work.

Fabienne Rivory (France) - Labokoff | Miroir (2013)
Fabienne Rivory is an artist and photographer based in Paris. Since 2007, Fabienne explores in the project “Labokoff” interactions between photography and painting, real world and imagination, memories and reality. Built around photographs that are picked in her personal collection, her images are painted with gouache or ink, employed as textures, splatters or lines, that shifts the images in a dreamy register. These are dreamed images trying to recreate a momentary emotion that anyone can feel in front of nature’s beauty, a particular architectural shape, a landscape passing by or the silhouette of a beloved one.
